“I was first introduced to CrossFit in the spring of 2008 and I immediately fell in love with it! I did my CrossFit Level 1 Certification a year later (May 2009) and began my journey as a CrossFit gym owner a year after that at CrossFit Lineage (March 2010). I now have 4 years of experience coaching, personal training and programming at CrossFit Lineage and I absolutely love this community. I feel overwhelmed with gratitude that I get to spend my days doing what I love.
“This year (2014), I had the amazing opportunity to compete as an individual at the Canada West Regionals for the first time, finishing in 18th place. I am excited to see how much I can improve as a CrossFit athlete in the future. It also gives me great pleasure that I am able to inspire others to chase their dreams, never give up on what they want and put in the work to make their dreams a reality.
“CrossFit challenges me daily to become the best version of myself alongside great people who inspire and push me. I truly enjoy being part of such an amazing CrossFit community and being able to help people achieve fitness goals they never thought possible.”
“It was only a few years ago that I discovered CrossFit. I was looking for a fitness program that had unparalleled results and that I would enjoy. I stumbled across a CrossFit Journal at a friend’s house and was intrigued by the photo of a woman my size overhead-squatting 135 lbs. After my first class, I was hooked.
“I started off my coaching career as a wrestling coach in Lethbridge in 2000. When I became a paramedic, I made it part of my job to ensure that my coworkers had access to a great fitness program. I have led running groups, taught group fitness classes and done occupational health and fitness programs for new employees.
“I still work as a paramedic but have found personal training is a great way to share my knowledge and passion for CrossFit. I have a great interest in Olympic lifting and injury rehab and am constantly looking for opportunities to learn more. I hope to help every one of you reach your goals and perhaps even surpass them.”
“CrossFit is what allows me to balance my ambitious health and fitness goals with the chaos of being Mom to four young kids. Since finding CrossFit in 2008, my fitness has been launched to levels I couldn't have imagined, and it has given me the results I was struggling so hard to find before.
“I aim to inspire my kids to become the best they possibly can, and I think the best way to lead is by example. Painters have paint, musicians have instruments – I have CrossFit!
“It is an honor to sweat and work alongside the CrossFit LINEAGE community as we pursue our goals together. This is what inspires me to become the best I can. I am so much better for it!”
“When I finished my last year playing Junior A hockey in Sherwood Park, I was looking for something different to continue to stay active. I tried my first CrossFit class in 2013 and instantly fell in love with it. I enjoyed how the workouts constantly varied, were challenging, and most of all the awesome community of people and support you have working alongside you through the workouts.
I am finishing up my Bachelor of Kinesiology (BKin) degree currently at the University of Alberta, and enjoy spending the hours I am not studying in the gym. I was an athletic trainer for a woman’s hockey team in Sherwood Park and fell in love with helping push others to reach their lifestyle and fitness goals. I completed my CrossFit Level 1 Certification in July of 2014 and have been extremely grateful to be a coach at CrossFit Lineage and be a part of this amazing Lineage family. Our coaches and members at Lineage are truly wonderful and make my job extremely fun and rewarding.
When I am not coaching, you will find me on one of the Olympic lifting platforms we have at Lineage. I competed in my first Olympic weightlifting competition in January of 2015 and I am extremely passionate about it. Within a year of dedicated Olympic lifting training, I have reached a National ranked weightlifting total and will be competing in May of 2016 at the Canadian Senior National Championships in Richmond, BC. I am also the #1 ranked female weightlifter in Alberta and will be completing my NCCP weightlifting certification this upcoming February.”
"I was always active in sports growing up, playing basketball, soccer, track and volleyball in school and continued with volleyball throughout university. Following university I picked up Ultimate Frisbee and have competed at Nationals 6 times earing spots at Worlds in Prague in 2010 and Italy in 2014 (and I have my sights set on 2018 as well).
"I became a personal trainer in 2001 which lead me to pursue a Master's degree in Kinesiology from the University of Manitoba. My area of focus was Biomechanics which refers to how the body moves. I feel this has given me a keen eye for nuances in lifting technique that is often overlooked. During my time at the U of M I because the Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Bison’s. Following my degree I took a job in a Sport Science lab and was fortunate enough to work with athletes including some on the Winnipeg Jets and the Blue Bombers.
"I began CrossFitting in 2006 to help my training for Ultimate as well as further my education in fitness. Along with a partner, I opened Prairie CrossFit in Winnipeg in 2010. We grew this business from a small, 900 square foot garage to 5500 square foot warehouse in just a few years. Here I was able to run successful Powerlifting and Olympic Weightlifting club. Like most CrossFit gyms, we had a wide range of athletes from an Olympic Gold medalist to grandparents to 4-year-olds.
"In 2015, with my family, I moved to Edmonton to become a Fitness Coordinator with the Edmonton Police. I oversee all of the fitness testing and training of the new recruit classes. I have always found meaning in working with people who rely on their fitness to help the community and this has let me do it full time."
