NEW: Saturday Running Clinics 11am
Every Saturday in September we will be hosting an in-house Running Clinic. The location will be either the gym or in the River Valley. Details will be posted each week regarding locations and directions.
Each day we will take you through some drills to improve your technique and put you through a running workout to apply what your learned.
These sessions will be free to our members, drop in fee applies to those outside of our facility.
This clinic will help improve your technique and improve your running times within WOD's and endurance sports. It is meant as a supplement to our regular programming and will not be as detailed as the Endurance Certification which will fine tune your technique, teach programming and nutrition, and do a video analysis of your gait before and after to see improvement. Anyone interested in really working on their technique and wants to understand the science and 'why' of POSE running should attend the full Certification which will be held on October 23, 24 at our Facility.
Next Weekend don't forget to show up in Rundle Park for some frisbee golf, bring some food and we'll head back to Elizabeth's house for a potluck afterwards (address available at the gym..but it is super close to Rundle)..meet at 10am at the frisbee golf course hut. If you need directions send us an email and we'll make sure you get there.
Sign up on the board at the gym and bring a frisbee and food :) You don't want to miss this!
OUTDOOR WOD IS CANCELLED DUE TO SMOKE!! A health advisory was issued and since the air quality has been so poor lately we want to limit our exposures and don't want anyone getting sick! Any of you with respiratory problems try and stay indoors and use your medications properly. The rest of you limit your exposure to the smoke especially in the hottest times of the day. If you must exercise outside do it in the morning or evening.

Level 1 Certification: September 11/12 is sold out so we will be hosting another certification on October 30/31 : Click on the Logo on the sidebar to register.
Spend two full days with the CrossFit Endurance staff learning,
studying, and applying the principles of CrossFit Endurance. The
CrossFit Endurance Certification is an introduction to CrossFit
Endurance and other factors which impact performance.
During the certification attendees will learn how CrossFit Endurance
works for endurance athletes and CrossFit athletes. Attendees will learn
proper run mechanics. This will include video taping and drills.
Attendees will learn more about CrossFit Endurance training &
programming, nutrition, recovery, injury prevention & care.
This certification will be presented by members of the CrossFit
Endurance staff.
Please wear clothing you can work out in, running

I found this article the other day and ended up reading it everyday this week. I tried to come up with a good way to paraphrase it to share just the highlights but in the end I could not do it justice. Here is an article from Men's Health written by the editor on how fitness is like money in the bank. It just might make you feel differently about exercise. Share this with others and lets get this country healthier!!
Best Life: From the Editor Men's Fitness 2010
Muscle in the Bank
Your workout and your 401(k) have more in common than you think
"IF YOU'RE A HARDWORKING PROFESSIONAL with a commitment to fitness, you're occasionally faced with the question (usually posed by someone with a thicker waistline than yours), "How do you find time to go to the gym?" But if you're a hardworking professional with a commitment to financial security, no one ever asks, "How do you find time to go to the bank?"
Part of the reason for that, of course, is that unlike your bank account, you can't manage your body online . . . yet. (Though we do have an app for that.) But another part has to do with a basic misunderstanding of saving and investing, versus spending. If you go to the bank and shift funds into your IRA, people say you're "investing" in your future. But if you go to the gym, they say you're "spending" your time there. And that's one reason why so many of us become discouraged in our pursuit of fitness--it so often feels as if there are more important things to do, that we're "spending" precious time on a luxury.
But what if you looked at going to the gym the same way you look at going to the bank? What if each workout wasn't a matter of time spent, but of time invested? And what if muscle paid dividends, and the more you invested early, the bigger the payoff later on?
That's exactly the way you should be thinking of your fitness, both financial and physical. Just as you should start investing for retirement while you're young--even if you don't feel you can afford to--so too should you start investing for the future health-wise, long before vital body systems threaten to break down. Because whether it's your body or your money, failing to invest early will cost you dearly over the long haul. In fact, if you're not investing now, you're losing ground.
Here's why: When you put your money under a mattress instead of investing it, you lose about 3 percent a year, give or take, because of inflation. Same thing with your body: Without investing in exercise, the average man loses about a pound of muscle mass every 5 years after the age of 25--and beyond age 50, his muscle loss picks up rapidly. (And that leads, of course, to a different kind of inflation.)
The good news is that being financially sound and being physically sound usually go hand in hand. In "Outrun Financial Stress," author Richard Sine points out that the same self-discipline that helps guys hit the gym also helps them make it to the bank. In fact, the typical Men's Health reader is saving money at double the rate of the average American. But Sine points out another, less reassuring fact: We're still not doing enough.
So this month, take stock of two of your greatest investments--your financial portfolio and your physical one. Think of them as one and the same, with equal value. (After all, poor physical health is the fastest way to erode your finances, and financial stress is one of the worst hazards to your health.) And the next time someone asks you where you're going at lunchtime, tell them you're going to the bank--even if you're going to the gym."
